Thrive. &#8211; Louisiana\u2019s New K-12 Accountability System"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Big changes are coming to Louisiana\u2019s K-12 education landscape. In June 2024, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bese.louisiana.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (BESE) approved a new statewide accountability system that will go into effect in the 2025\u20132026 school year. The goal? To better capture what matters most: how much students are learning, how well schools are supporting all learners, and whether students are prepared to succeed after graduation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the first time, Louisiana\u2019s accountability system will evaluate schools across three core pillars: <\/span><b>Grow<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Achieve<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>Thrive<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This marks a major shift from a system once centered solely on proficiency to one that embraces a broader, more holistic view of student success.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Why the Change?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/progresslearning.com\/schools-districts\/louisiana\/elementary-school\/\">Louisiana<\/a> was one of the first states to adopt an accountability system tied to academic performance. For decades, school performance scores (SPS) have largely reflected a single factor: how many students were \u201cproficient\u201d on state tests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While this gave some insight into school quality, it overlooked two critical pieces: <\/span><b>how much students were growing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>whether they were prepared for life after high school<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Many educators, school leaders, and policymakers called for a system that recognized growth and rewarded schools for moving all students forward, especially those starting behind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The new Grow. Achieve. Thrive. framework is the answer to that call. It reflects the realities of today\u2019s classrooms and gives credit where it\u2019s due: to schools and districts making meaningful progress with every student.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What Is Actually Changing?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beginning in 2025\u20132026, schools will be evaluated on <\/span><b>12 specific indicators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, grouped into <\/span><b>three categories<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>GROW \u2013 Measuring Student Progress<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Growth is no longer just a bonus\u2014it\u2019s a central part of the evaluation.
