The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) exam is the most important summative assessment in the state. It determines whether students are ready to move on to the next grade level according to the state-mandated curriculum standards, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).

On June 16, 2021, the Texas legislature activated House Bill 4545. This bill deals with the requirements for accelerated instruction beginning in the coming ‘21-’22 school year and beyond.

Florida is rolling out the new B.E.S.T. (Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking) standards in multiple phases over the next two years for Math and ELA in all grades. In advance of each phased roll-out, USATestprep will be offering updated standards-aligned materials--along with both the old and new standards--at no additional charge during transition years.

School’s out for the summer! Now’s the time for students to relax, play outside, and watch a bit more TV. But for many teachers and parents, the summer break can often be a cause for concern. With school out of session, students are not actively learning and may even forget some of what they learned over the past school year. This is known as summer learning loss and can have serious effects on students across K-12.

In April 2022, we decided to head to Texas to see how Education Galaxy, a product from Progress Learning, was working at Crandall ISD, an independent school district in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. We visited 4 of their 5 elementary campuses—W.A. Martin Elementary, Wilson Elementary, Walker Elementary, and Noble Reed Elementary—to discover all the different ways teachers were using our solution to support instruction in the classrooms.

Following the 2020 acquisition of Education Galaxy, we’re excited to share the next phase of our integration. Education Galaxy and USATestprep have merged to become Progress Learning. We wanted to share this exciting news to inform you —the educators, administrators, teachers, parents, and students who make everything we do worthwhile—about what you can expect moving forward and answer some questions about this next phase in our mission to help every student master their state’s standards.

Next school year (2022-23), USATestprep and Education Galaxy will become Progress Learning. Virtual learning has become more popular in recent years as technology has made it easier for students to learn remotely.
